Violianka

I am Violianka, Anna Kołodziej — a Polish folk musician, violinist, nyckelharpa player, and vocalist from Lublin. My journey is rooted in traditional and early music from Poland, Ukraine, the Lemko region, and Sweden. For over twenty years, I have shared emigrant ballads, dances, and ritual songs, letting these old melodies speak again through living sound.

A graduate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, I work not only as a performer but also as a music therapist and educator. Through music, I support children with special needs, believing in its power to connect, heal, and awaken emotion.

The nyckelharpa has become my musical signature — a quiet companion on this journey, carrying stories and voices from the past into the present. I am open to artistic and creative collaborations: concert projects, interdisciplinary initiatives, educational work, and musical storytelling. My work is all about meeting people and instruments on my journeys through Sweden – the people I meet often pull me in, inspiring me and leaving unforgettable memories. Evaluating a nyckelharpa is a process that takes time: I explore its sound, tuning, precision, and character. Each instrument has its own story, and I spend hours playing, testing, and discovering its strengths and quirks. Having experience with around 100 instruments, I usually get familiar with the keyboard quickly, but every nyckelharpa has something unique to offer.

My performances include concerts in Poland and abroad, studio and radio recordings, as well as photo and TV sessions. I work with different artists who share my passion for music.

I offer online music lessons in both English and Polish, tailored to individual needs and musical goals. Lessons are available for beginners as well as advanced students, with a focus on traditional music, nyckelharpa, violin, and musical expression.

Each session lasts 90 minutes, allowing time for technique, repertoire, musical understanding, and inspiration. Online lessons provide a comfortable and flexible way to learn, connect, and grow musically, no matter where you are in the world.
